Scope

This part specifies the mechanical safety requirements and test methods for rear-operated and hand-held lawn trimmers and lawn trimmers. This section applies to non-metallic cutting machines with non-metal flexible wires or free-centering non-metallic cutting parts. The cutting capacity (kinetic energy) of each cutting part is not greater than 10J. The operator is standing and operated, and is mainly used for mowing grass. and handheld power lawn trimmers and lawn edgers. This section does not apply to lawn trimmers or lawn trimmers of the shearing type or with steel blades. This section also does not apply to lawn trimmers with non-rigid cutting devices having a cutting capacity (kinetic energy) above 10J. This standard does not include the electrical requirements for electric lawn trimmers and lawn trimmers with a DC voltage exceeding 42 V or directly connected to the mains.
