Scope
This standard specifies the product classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, markings, instructions for use, packaging, transportation, and storage requirements for loose-tube stranded outdoor optical cables (hereinafter referred to as optical cables). This standard applies to filled optical cables for communication core networks and access networks and semi-dry and dry optical cables for access networks using conventional laying methods such as pipelines, direct burial, underwater, and non-self-supporting overhead. This standard does not apply to micro optical cables laid by air blowing and optical cables laid in micro trenches on roads and drainage pipes.
