Scope: This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, classification, marking and packaging of marine synchronous generators with a rated power of 3125kVA (50Hz and 60Hz) and below (hereinafter referred to as generators) and their excitation devices. This standard applies to generators and their excitation devices driven by internal combustion engines and used as ships and mobile and fixed offshore installations. This standard can also be used by reference to generators with steam turbines, shaft generators and generators with rated power greater than 3125kVA.
