Scope

This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, classification, marking and packaging of marine synchronous generators with a rated power of 3125kVA (50 Hz and 60 Hz) and below (hereinafter referred to as generators) and their excitation devices. This standard applies to generators and their excitation devices driven by internal combustion engines and used for ships and mobile and fixed offshore installations. This standard can also refer to generators driven by steam turbines, shaft generators and generators with rated power greater than 3125kVA.
