Scope

Note: There are certain dangers in the installation, test and disposal of the residue of the test piece, and some toxic or harmful smoke and gas may be produced during the test. Therefore, the corresponding department should provide necessary training to the staff related to the test, so that they can fully understand the danger of the test, and take safety precautions before the test. During the experiment, the staff must operate in strict accordance with the safety operation rules, and the residues of the test pieces should be properly disposed of after the test, so as to fully ensure the health and personal safety of the staff. This part of GB/T 9978 specifies the test procedures for determining the fire resistance of non-load-bearing ceiling elements exposed to fire below. The fire resistance of such ceiling elements is not affected by any building elements above them. This standard applies to non-load-bearing ceiling elements, including self-supporting ceilings, suspended ceilings and simply supported ceilings. When the structure of untested building components meets the conditions specified in the scope of direct application given in this part, the fire resistance performance results of the components that have been subjected to fire resistance tests in accordance with the provisions of this part can be applied to similar untested building components. This part does not apply to the suspended ceiling used as a horizontal fire separation component to protect the load-bearing components above it. The fire resistance performance of this type of suspended ceiling component can be tested according to GB/T 9978.5.
