Scope

This document specifies the structural safety requirements and determination methods for agricultural machinery suspended, semi-suspended and traction power-driven soil tillage machinery. This document also specifies the type of information that the manufacturer should provide for safe operation (including residual risks). The major hazards involved in this document (listed in Appendix A), hazardous states and events are associated with the use of driven farming machinery under foreseeable conditions at the manufacturer (see Chapter 4). This document does not apply to: --- scrapers; --- machinery equipped with retractable devices that can continuously operate between crops. This document does not cover environmental hazards, nor hazards associated with power transmission moving parts and maintenance of machinery by professionals, except for guards and barrier strength requirements. Note 1: This document does not deal with the hazards associated with road traffic management. Note 2: For suspended, semi-suspended and towed machinery, this document does not consider vibration as a significant hazard. This document does not apply to drive-type tillage machines produced before the publication of this document. If the requirements of this document are different from the requirements of ISO 4254.1, the requirements of this document take precedence over the requirements of ISO 4254.1 for machines designed and manufactured in accordance with the provisions of this document.
