Scope

This part of GB/T 17178 specifies requirements and gives guidance in order to produce a system-independent conformance test suite for one or more OSI specifications. In particular, it applies to the generation of all OSI conformance test specifications, including all draft versions of these conformance test specifications. This section applies to the generation of abstract test cases, which will verify the consistency of the implementation according to the relevant static and/or dynamic consistency requirements by controlling and observing the protocol behavior. The abstract test methods included in this standard can be used to specify virtually any test case that can be abstractly expressed in terms of control and observation protocol data units (PDUs) and abstract service primitives (ASPs). Although test cases are required for some protocols, test cases cannot be expressed in this wording. Such test cases may themselves need to be included in the conformance test specification, but such test case specifications are beyond the scope of this standard. This section may be used to generate test suites for one or more adjacent protocols, whether or not those protocols are embedded in other underlying protocols. This section does not include the following: a) the relationship between abstract test suite specifications and formal description techniques; b) tests using test methods for specific applications, protocols or systems, including tests that are not means of PDU exchange.
