Scope
GB/T 17178 is a multi-part standard that sets out general methods for testing the conformance of products that claim to implement the OSI specification. This method is suitable for testing conformance to the following specifications. a) OSI protocol specification; b) transfer syntax specification for use in combination with specific OSI protocols; c) specification of OSI protocol profiles, including conformance tests for any specific information objects used in combination with one or more protocols, as in the profile d) the specification of a combination of multiple OSI protocols, possibly in combination with a specific transfer syntax and/or one or more specific information objects. The OSI specification for which conformance is tested can be included in a national standard, an international standard ITU-T recommendation or an international standardization profile. In principle, GB/T 17178 is applicable to the conformance test of Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN). GB/T 17178 applies to conformance testing of a protocol or a set of protocol implementations that require communication between two or more open real systems to achieve their goals (e.g. message handling services (MHS), directory services , ISDN, transaction processing, routing and system management, etc.). GB/T 17178 applies to different stages in the conformance testing process, which are characterized by three main activities. The three activities are: a) Specification of the Abstract Test Suite (ATS) for a specific OSI protocol and Profile Test Specification (PTS) for a specific OSI Profile; b) Testing of executables capable of executing the Abstract Test Suite implementation of the tool; c) a conformance assessment process for a particular client implementation by a test laboratory based on an Implementation Conformance Statement (ICS), which produces a System Conformance Test Report (SCTR) and one or more protocol This ends with a Personality Test Report (PCTR) (one is produced for each ATS used). The report gives test results according to the protocol specification and test suite used. This standard applies to all three activities and provides instructive introductory material, as well as definitions of common terms and concepts. Note: GB/T 17178.2 refers to the requirements and guidance of the ATS specification, which is independent of the test notation. GB/T 17178.3 defines the suggested test notation. GB/T 17178.4 involves the requirements and guidelines for the realization of test tools. GB/T 17178.5 deals with requirements and guidelines for testing laboratories and their clients during the conformity assessment process. GB/T 17178.6 discusses the requirements and guidelines based on ATS and PTS for each involved agreement. GB/T 17178.7 deals with requirements and guidance on ICS, system conformance statement (SCS), performance and requirements list (RL). GB/T 17178 stipulates requirements and provides guidelines based on the procedures followed by OSI conformance testing. GB/T 17178 includes only the information necessary to meet the following objectives: a) As a guide to consistency, sufficient confidence should be obtained in the test; b) At different times and in different places, for a specific OSI To achieve comparability between the results of the tests carried out; c) to facilitate communication between the parties responsible for the activities described in 1.4 above. This standard includes the following introductory material for guidance: a) explaining the meaning of conformance in the context of OSI; b) explaining the main categories of conformance testing; c) introducing the conformance assessment process; d) introducing abstract test methods and their applicability; e) introduce the concept of test suite design. In addition, this standard also describes the relationship between other parts of GB/T 17178 and the activities involved in conformance testing, and introduces the concept of compliance with other relevant parts of GB/T 17178. The following issues are not within the scope of GB/T 17178: a) certification, administrative procedures that may appear after conformance testing; b) requirements for equipment purchases and contracts; c) requirements for specific applications, protocols or systems Tests performed by the test method; d) tests not performed according to the PDU exchange. Note: GB/T 17178 is not fully applicable to physical layer protocols. However, many concepts apply to all protocols
