This standard specifies the overall technical requirements for optical transport networks (OTN) based on the definition of ITU-T G.872. The main contents include: OTN network functional structure, interface requirements, multiplexing structure, performance requirements, equipment types, protection requirements, DCN implementation methods, network management and control plane requirements, etc. This standard applies to OTN terminal multiplexing equipment and OTN cross-connect equipment. OTN cross-connect equipment mainly includes: OTN electrical cross-connect equipment, OTN optical cross-connect equipment and equipment with both OTN electrical cross-connect and OTN optical cross-connect functions.
