1.1 This standard defines (in an abstract way) the externally visible services provided by the OSI presentation layer in terms of: a) primitive actions and events at the user/service boundary; b) the association between primitive actions and events c) the interrelationships of these actions and events and their effective sequence. 1.2 The services defined in this standard are provided by the OSI presentation protocol (together with the OSI session service) and can be used by each OSI application protocol. 1.3 This standard is not a specification for each implementation or product, nor does it restrict the realization of entities and interfaces in computer systems, so there is no question of whether it is consistent with this standard.
