Scope: This standard: a) specifies procedures for registration of objects generally applicable within the scope of the Open Systems Interconnection Environment (OSIE); b) specifies the hierarchical (level) structure of naming domains in which such registration occurs; Guidance for establishment and operation; d) guidance for providing additional standards which adopt the procedures of this standard. Note: This standard does not exclude or disallow the use of any grammatical form of the name, or any named city provided for registration purposes (these fields shall ensure that there is no ambiguity within their scope). This International Standard is intended to cover hierarchical names suitable for registration. Information on registering specific objects in OSIE is contained in separate standards. This standard applies to registrations within OSIE utilizing the Standard, registrations within OSIE through an International Registration Authority, and registrations within OSIE through any organization required to act as a Registration Authority.
