Scope: 1.1 This part of GB/T 12010 specifies the polyvinyl alcohol (PVAL) material naming system, which can be used as the basis for classification. 1.2 Polyvinyl alcohol (PVAL) materials are distinguished on the basis of the following characteristic properties and a classification system consisting of relevant basic polymer parameters, intended use and (or) processing methods, important properties, additives, colorants, fillers and reinforcing materials : a) degree of alcoholysis; b) viscosity of aqueous solution under specified conditions. 1.3 This section is applicable to polyvinyl alcohol materials whose degree of alcoholysis is not less than 70% (mol fraction). It is suitable for general powder and granular materials, as well as unmodified or modified materials with colorants, additives, fillers, etc. 1.4 Materials with the same name do not necessarily have the same properties. This section does not provide engineering data, performance data or processing condition data that may be required for special applications and (or) processing methods. If necessary, these additional properties shall be determined according to the test methods specified in ISO 15023-2:2003. 1.5 To specify a material for a particular application or to ensure repeatability of processing, additional requirements may be given in character group 5 (3.1).
