Scope

This standard specifies the method for measuring the intrinsic viscosity of polyvinyl alcohol resin aqueous solution and calculating its average degree of polymerization with an Ostwald viscometer. This standard is applicable to the determination of the average degree of polymerization of polyvinyl alcohol resin produced by high-alkali alcoholysis and low-alkali alcoholysis.
