This part of GB/T 16264 defines several attribute types and matching rules that are useful in various directory applications. Attribute types and matching rules can be divided into three categories, described below: Certain attribute types and matching rules can be used in various applications, or they can be identified and/or used by the directory itself. Certain attribute types and matching rules have been standardized internationally, but are a particular application. These attribute types and matching rules are defined in the standards relevant to the application involved. Any governing body may specify its own attribute types and matching rules for any purpose. They are not internationally standardized and if they are to be used by bodies other than the governing body that created them, they can only be used through bilateral negotiations.
