Scope: This part of GB/15306 specifies the dimensions of indexable inserts made of ceramic cutting materials with rounded corners, cylindrical fixing holes, and a normal relief angle of 0°. These inserts are clamped on turning and boring tool holders primarily from the top and the hole, or only through the hole. This section applies to indexable inserts with holes made of various ceramic cutting materials. Ceramic cutting materials are composed of various oxides, nitrides, carbides and metals. For example, such ceramic materials are: oxide ceramics (mainly composed of alumina Al₂O₃), oxide-carbide ceramics (mainly composed of alumina and other materials such as iron carbide TiC ), nitride ceramics (generally composed of silicon nitride Si₃N₄ and other materials such as yttrium oxide Y₂0₃ and alumina).
