Scope: This standard specifies the method of dispersing pigments and extenders with a high-speed mixer. This section is to be used in conjunction with the evaluation method described in GB/T 21867, using an agreed paint base system. This part should be read together with GB/T 21868.1-2008. The method is limited to millbases with suitably high viscosities, since high shear forces can only be generated with high binder contents and/or high pigment concentrations. This is not meant to provide a way to scale the millbase (scaling up this process from laboratory equipment to factory grinders is not trivial). Note: The high-speed mixer can be used to directly disperse the pigment, or to pre-disperse, and then use other equipment to further disperse, such as sand mill (bead mill) or vertical ball mill.
