Scope
This standard specifies the functional requirements for multi-channel data transmission between safety-level systems in nuclear power plants, between safety-level systems and safety-related systems, between safety-related systems, and between safety-important systems and non-safety-important systems. It provides fixed Data transmission cycle, one-way, data transmission requirements with no significant change in data volume per cycle. This standard applies to multi-channel signal modulation, multi-channel signal demodulation and data transmission systems that use point-to-point mode to send data from one device to another. This standard does not apply to internal connections and data transfers between computer processors, storage and logic units. This standard does not include specific equipment technical specifications, nor does it include multiplex data transmission applications and local area network (LAN) technologies between non-safety important systems or directly for screen display (VDU) equipment. This standard also does not cover data processing within the instrument control computer system.
