IEC 60664-5:2007 Insulation coordination for equipment within low-voltage systems - Part 5: Comprehensive method for determining clearances and creepage distances equal to or less than 2 mm
This part of GB/T 16935 specifies the method for determining the dimensions of clearances and creepage distances not exceeding 2 mm in printed circuit boards and similar structures where the clearances and creepage distances are the same and are along the Solid insulating surfaces, as described in Part 1, 6.2 (Examples 1, 5 and 11). This method of sizing is more precise than that specified in Part 1. However, if precise dimensions are not required, the contents of Part 1 may apply. This section can only be used as a whole. It is not allowed to extract one or more clauses from this section, nor to use them in place of the corresponding clauses in Part 1. And this part can only be used in conjunction with part 1. When this Part is used to determine the dimensions of clearances and creepage distances, all clauses shall be applied in place of the corresponding clauses given in Part 1. For electrical and creepage clearances greater than 2 mm and general solid insulation, Part 1 applies. Note 1: The limitation of distances equal to or less than 2 mm applies to basic insulation or supplementary insulation. The total distance of reinforced insulation or double insulation may be greater than 2 mm. This part is dimensioned based on the following criteria:
——Minimum electrical clearances independent of the microenvironment (see Table 2);
——Minimum creepage distances applicable to pollution levels 1, 2 and 3 to avoid failure due to tracking (see Table 4);
——Minimum creepage distance to avoid flashover across the insulation surface (see Table 5). Note 2: The minimum creepage distance to maintain sufficient insulation resistance is shown in Table 82. Note 3: This section does not apply to microenvironmental conditions worse than pollution level 3 or humidity level 3. This standard specifies a test method for assigning unclassified insulating materials to relevant water absorption groups.
