This part of ISO 17989 provides guidance for designers and manufacturers of agricultural and forestry tractors and machinery to integrate sustainability principles, practices and considerations into organizations and processes. This part of ISO 17989 is particularly applicable to technology used to produce food, fiber, fuel and wood for humans and animals. NOTE This part of ISO 17989 covers three different levels of application: principles, recommendations and additional information (appendices). This part of ISO 17989 is aimed at management and addresses sustainability aspects relevant to the life cycle of a product. He defines the factory gate as the system boundary. This part of ISO 17989 is not applicable for contractual or regulatory purposes or for registration and certification. Although sustainability is closely linked to occupational health and safety issues or design safety aspects for the operator, this part of ISO 17989 is not applicable to these aspects. Designers can find assistance with these topics in other International Standards.
