- Scope
- This standard applies to empty enclosures provided by the enclosure manufacturer before the user installs switchgear and controlgear components (hereinafter referred to as enclosures). This standard specifies the definition, classification, performance and test requirements for enclosures used in low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies, eg in accordance with the IEC 61439 series. Its rated voltage is not more than 1000 V a.c. or 1500 V d.c. and is suitable for indoor or outdoor use. This standard does not apply to housings mentioned in other specific product standards (such as the IEC 60670 series). The complete equipment manufacturer is responsible for the safety requirements of the corresponding product standards.
