Scope

This standard specifies the requirements and/or measures for removing hazards and limiting risks on manual radial arm saws (hereinafter referred to as machine tools). This standard applies to machine tools for sawing solid wood, particleboard, fiberboard, plywood, and plastic-faced or welted materials. This standard does not apply to the following machine tools: a) desktop machine tools that can be moved by one person, work at a fixed work point, and are installed on a workbench or similar device; b) machine tools that are equipped with hydraulic power operating parts (such as hydraulic clamping devices); c) machine tools equipped with dynamic positioning devices; d) machine tools equipped with accessories for longitudinal sectioning, milling (including parting and grooving), sanding or drilling, etc.; e) machine tools with multiple saw axes.
