Scope: This standard specifies the measurement method for determining the sound power level or sound energy level of the noise source by measuring the sound pressure level on the measurement surface surrounding the noise source in anechoic and semi-anechoic rooms. It gives the requirements for the test environment and instruments, and at the same time gives the method of calculating the sound power level or sound energy level from the measured surface sound pressure level, ensuring that the obtained results have a level 1 accuracy. The method specified in this standard is applicable to the measurement of all types of noise sources. Noise sources can be equipment, machines, components or accessories. The maximum size of a sound source that can be measured depends on the radius of the imaginary sphere (or hemisphere) of the measurement envelope.
