Scope

For statistical terms used in this standard, see the national standard GB3358-82 "Statistical Terms and Symbols". Assuming that some individuals in the population have a certain characteristic, p is the proportion of individuals in the population with this characteristic. For example p could be the fraction of defectives in the batch. Randomly and independently select several individuals as samples from the population. This standard specifies the method for point estimation of the parameter p of the population based on such samples. For a finite population, let its size be N and the sample size be n. When the extraction is with replacement, or when the extraction is without replacement, n/N0.1, n extractions can be considered independent.
