- This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification and naming, characteris ics, structural and performance requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of explosion-proof low-voltage AC vacuum electromagnetic starters for mining. This standard is applicable to the direct or remote starting and stopping, reversal and speed control of three-phase squirrel-cage asynchronous motors in circuits with a rated frequency of 50Hz and voltages up to 1140V (1200V) and below in coal mines. It also controls the motor and related circuits. Protected starter. The provis ons of this standard regarding overload protection do not apply to embedded overheating protection devices built into the motor.
