Scope
This standard specifies the structure and tests of intrinsically safe equipment used in explosive gas atmospheres, and associated equipment connected to intrinsically safe circuits entering the environment. This standard supplements GB 3836.1-2000 "Electrical Equipment for Explosive Gas Atmospheres Part 1: General Requirements". This standard applies to electrical equipment whose circuit itself will not ignite an explosion in the surrounding environment. This standard also applies to electrical equipment or its parts protected by another explosion-proof type listed in GB 3836.1. The intrinsic safety of circuits in explosive gas environments depends on the design and structure. For circuits exposed to explosive gas atmospheres, use this standard to assess their suitability for that environment.
