Scope

This standard specifies the special requirements for starting devices (except glow starters and triggers) for fluorescent lamps and other discharge lamps using an AC power supply of 50 Hz or 60 Hz up to 1000 V. The starting device can generate a starting pulse not greater than 100kV, and is compatible with lamps and Ballast used together. This section does not apply to glow starters or starting devices incorporating discharge lamps or manually operated starting devices. The requirements for preheating transformers for fluorescent lamps are given in GB 19510.9. This part only deals with starting devices for ballasts and lamps which are most demanded in the world. See GB/T 19655 for performance requirements.
