This part specifies the classification and code of heat-treated cold heading steel wire, order content, size, shape, weight and allowable deviation, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marks and quality certificates. This part applies to high-quality carbon structural steel wire and alloy structural steel wire (hereinafter referred to as steel wire) for the manufacture of fasteners such as rivets, bolts, screws and studs, and cold-formed parts. After the fasteners or cold-formed parts are formed by cold heading or cold extrusion, heat treatment such as surface carburizing, nitriding, quenching and tempering is required.
