This standard specifies the definition, classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of surge protective devices (SPD) for railway signaling equipment. This standard applies to the manufacturing, maintenance, inspection and evaluation of surge protectors for railway signaling equipment to prevent damage caused by lightning electromagnetic pulse induction. Surge protectors for other electronic equipment (communication equipment, computer information system equipment) in the railway system can be used as a reference.
