Scope
Gas discharge tube (GDT) is used in communication or signal circuits not exceeding 1000V AC or 1500V DC, which is defined as a device consisting of a single gap or multiple gaps sealed in a non-air discharge medium, used to protect electrical appliances and Personal protection from transient overvoltage hazards. This standard is neither a requirement for the complete surge protective device specification, nor is it a complete requirement for the GDT specification used in electronic equipment. Among them, the precise coordination of GDT performance and surge protector tolerance is extremely demanding. This part of GB/T 18802: - is aimed at two-pole or three-pole GDT; - does not involve installation and its influence on GDT performance, and the performance given is only applicable to GDT installed according to the test requirements; - does not involve mechanical dimensions; - does not address quality assurance requirements; - may not be sufficient for GDTs used on high-frequency or multi-channel systems; - does not address electrostatic voltages; And GDTs connected in series with varistors; - do not involve mixed or combined GDT devices.
