Scope: 1.1 This part of GB/T 3403 specifies the character group system for naming powdered urea-formaldehyde and urea/melamine-formaldehyde molding compounds (UF- and UF/MF-PMCs). 1.2 The various types of UF- and UF/MF-PM differ by classification method according to the type and content of filling/reinforcing material, intended processing method, special properties and information on characteristic properties (specified properties) specially used for nomenclature. 1.3 This section applies to all powdery, granular and ground UF- and UF/MF-PMCs. 1.4 Materials with the same designation do not necessarily have the same properties. This section does not provide engineering data, performance data, or processing methods that may be required for the specific application and/or processing of the pending material. If these additional properties are required, they shall be determined according to the test methods specified in Part 2 of this standard. 1.5 When it is necessary to expressly comply with the general data requirements listed in ISO 14527-3:1999, this character set system is also required.
