This chapter of GB 4706.1-2005 applies except for the following: This part applies to the safety of instant water heaters for household and similar purposes and intended to heat water to a temperature below the boiling point. The rated voltage of single-phase appliances does not exceed 250V , the rated voltage of other appliances does not exceed 480V. Appliances not intended for domestic use but which may constitute a danger to the public, such as appliances used by non-professionals in shops, light industry and on farms, are also covered by this standard. As a practical matter, this section deals with the public hazards generated by appliances that may be encountered by all persons in and around the dwelling. This section generally does not consider: the situation of unattended young children or disabled appliances; the situation of young children playing with appliances.
