Scope: This part of GB/T 21782 specifies the liquid displacement pycnometer method for determining the density of powder coatings. This method is based on the determination of the mass and volume of the sample. The equipment specified for this method is relatively inexpensive, but the liquid displacement pycnometer method may give incorrect results, especially if the powder expands with the displaced liquid, or if the displaced liquid does not completely replace the air in the powder particles. The liquid conversion method is slower to use, and is less accurate than GB/T 21782.2-2008 "Determination of Density by Gas Comparison Pycnometer (Arbitration Method)", and it is only used when it is confirmed that it can get the same result as the gas comparison Pycnometer method this method.
