Scope

This section provides information on the design, installation, inspection, maintenance and testing of lightning electromagnetic pulse protection systems (LPMS) for electrical and electronic systems in buildings to reduce the risk of permanent failure due to lightning electromagnetic pulses. This standard does not cover protection against electromagnetic interference from lightning that may cause failure of electronic systems. However, the information in Appendix A can also be used to assess such harassment. Measures for protection against electromagnetic interference are described in IEC 60364-4-44 and IEC 61000 series ^[1]1). This section can guide the cooperation between the designer of electrical and electronic systems and the designer of protective measures to achieve the best protective effect. This section does not involve the specific design of the electrical and electronic systems themselves.
