Scope

In the test and measurement industry, there is an increasing need to connect VXI bus instruments to computer networks, which can be either wide area networks or local area networks. Followed by the need for a standard to specify the function of the TCP/IP-VXI bus device. This specification is a part of the VXI bus series specification, which explains how the Harbin Institute of Technology; Harbin Institute of Electrical Instrumentation can connect the bus instrument to the standard industrial network. The communication and programming paradigms supported by this specification are essentially similar to those supported by Harbin Institute of Technology; Harbin Institute of Electrical Instrumentation Bus Instruments and Harbin Institute of Science and Technology; Harbin Institute of Electrical Instrumentation bus IEEE-488.2 instruments. This specification protocol allows ASCII messages to be passed between controllers and devices over a TCP/IP network. Readers should have knowledge of networking, Internet Protocol Suite, ONC RPC, IEEE 488.2, and the VXI product line. This specification is a part of the VXI bus series specification, and defines a TCP/IP-VXI bus interface device. The only networks directly mentioned in this specification are those that support the Internet Protocol Suite. The technologies defined in this specification can be applied on other networks (such as networks supporting OSI protocol standards), but this part does not describe related transformations. This specification implements Open Network Computing (ONC) Remote Procedure Calls (RPC) at the upper layers of the Internet Protocol Suite.
