This part of GB 4706 deals with the safety of electric dry irons and steam irons for household and similar purposes, including the safety of steam irons with a separate water tank or evaporator with a capacity not exceeding 5 L, and the rated voltage of the appliance does not exceed 250V. Appliances not intended for domestic use but which may constitute a danger to the public, such as electric irons used by laymen in shops, light industry and on farms, are also covered by this standard. As a practical matter, this section deals with the public hazards generated by appliances that may be encountered by all persons in and around the dwelling. This standard does not normally consider: — the use of appliances by unattended young children or infirm persons; — the situation of young children playing with appliances. Note 1: Attention to the following facts: , — appliances intended to be used in vehicles, ships or aircraft may require additional requirements; — appliances intended to be used in tropical countries may require special requirements; — in many countries, additional requirements may be required; Requirements are formulated by the national public health department, labor protection department and similar departments; - Additional requirements for high-pressure vessels are stipulated by relevant national departments responsible for the safety of high-pressure vessels. Note 2: This standard does not apply to: - rotary or flat-bed screeds (IEC 60335-2-44); - appliances specially designed for industrial use; - intended for use in corrosive or explosive special Conditions (such as dust, steam or combustible gas) place appliances.
