This chapter in GB 4706.1-1998 is replaced by the following content: This standard applies to the safety of electric kitchen machinery for household and similar purposes with a rated voltage not exceeding 250 V. Note 1 to entry: Examples of appliances falling within the scope of this standard are as follows: food mixers; machines, including those used in refrigerator freezers or freezers; - citrus juice squeezers; - centrifugal juice extractors; - meat grinders; - pasta machines; - pulp juice extractors; - slicers; - bean slicers; - potato peelers; - graters and choppers; knife sharpeners; - can openers; - knives; - food processors; - hopper capacity coffee grinders not exceeding 500 9; - cereal grinders with a funnel capacity not exceeding 3 liters. Appliances not intended for general household use, but which nonetheless constitute a source of danger to the public, e.g. appliances intended for use in shops, in light industry and on farms by non-electricians, are also within the scope of this standard. As a practical matter, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by appliances to all persons in and around the dwelling. This standard generally does not take into account: - the use of appliances by unattended young children or disabled persons; - the situation of young children playing with appliances.
