This standard specifies the terms and definitions, usage conditions, general characteristics and test methods of power converters for rolling stock. This standard applies to power converters that supply power to traction circuits and auxiliary circuits of rolling stock (electric locomotives, diesel locomotives, motor vehicles, passenger cars and trailers, etc.). This standard also applies to other traction rolling stock, such as trams, subways, and urban rail transit vehicles. ——Semiconductor device assembly;
——Combined cooling system;
——Intermediate DC link components, including filters connected to the DC link;
——Semiconductor drive unit (SDU) and related sensors;
——Protection circuit. This standard does not apply to converters that power semiconductor drive units (SDUs) and other equipment related to the operation of the converter (such as sensors). The electronic control device of the converter, sensors unrelated to the semiconductor drive unit and the printed board assembly of the semiconductor drive unit (SDU) should comply with the regulations of TB/T 3021-2002. This standard does not apply to road electric vehicles or low-voltage or low-power converters as explained in TB/T 3021-2001. The following types of power supplies should be considered:
——AC catenary;
——DC catenary;
——Self-provided power sources (such as on-board generators, batteries and other power sources).
