This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, acceptance rules, etc. for locomotive semiconductor converter devices (hereinafter referred to as converter devices). This standard applies to converter devices for traction and braking of railway electric locomotives and electric multiple units, as well as rectifier devices for traction of electric transmission locomotives. In principle, it also applies to the converter devices that supply power to auxiliary equipment on these locomotives. The device consists of semiconductor rectifier diodes, reverse blocking three-pole thyristors and their pulse triggering parts (from pulse transformer to thyristor gate), as well as other accessories. This standard only sets out requirements for the common parts of locomotive semiconductor converter devices. Specific provisions can be made for various devices in product technical conditions based on their own characteristics. This standard does not apply to converters, frequency converters and choppers whose commutation voltage is supplied from an internal power supply.
