This chapter in GB 4706.1-1998 is replaced by the following: This standard applies to the safety of electronic air cleaners for household and similar purposes. The rated voltage of single-phase air purifiers is not greater than 250V; the rated voltage of other air purifiers is not greater than 480V. Note 1: This standard also applies to electrostatic air filters contained in other appliances. Non-domestic air cleaners are also included in the scope of this standard as long as they may be dangerous to the public, such as air cleaners used by non-professionals in shops, light industry and farms. NOTE 2 Such appliances are, for example, commercial air cleaners. As far as practicality is concerned, this standard considers air purifiers that pose a risk to the public in households and that are accessible to all persons. This standard does not normally take into account: - use of the appliance by unsupervised children and the infirm; - use of the appliance as a toy by children. Note 3: Attention should be drawn to the following facts: - Air cleaners used in vehicles, ships and aircraft may have additional requirements if necessary; - Air cleaners used in tropical areas may have additional requirements if necessary; - In many countries there are additional requirements stipulated by the Ministry of Health, Labor Protection or similar. 4 This standard does not apply to: ——Industrial-specific air cleaners; ——Air cleaners for special environments, such as environments with corrosive or explosive gases (dust, steam or gas); ——Air cleaners included in building structures system.
