This standard specifies the measurement and calculation methods for the gas and particulate emissions of reciprocating internal combustion engines under the steady-state conditions of the test bench, so as to determine the weighted value of each exhaust pollutant. Combinations of various engine loads and rotational speeds can reflect different uses of the engine (see GB/T 8190.4). This standard applies to engines for other purposes such as earth-moving machinery, generator sets, etc. Under limited circumstances, the engine can be tested on the bench according to GB/T 8190.2 standards for field tests, but only after obtaining the consent of all parties concerned. It should be taken into account that the data obtained in some cases may not be completely consistent with the data obtained previously or in the future according to this standard. Therefore, it is recommended that this solution should only be used for engines with a very limited number of manufactures, such as large marine or generator set engines. For engines used on machinery with other additional requirements (such as occupational health and safety regulations, power plant regulations), additional test conditions and special evaluation methods may be required. When it is impossible to use the test bench or it is necessary to know the actual emission of the engine in use, the on-site test procedures and calibration methods specified in GB/T 8190.2 should be used.
