This chapter of GB 4706.1 is replaced by the following content: This standard involves the special requirements for portable electric heating tools and similar appliances, and the rated voltage of the appliances does not exceed 250V. Appliances that are not intended for general household use but are still dangerous to the public are also within the scope of this standard. Examples are appliances used by non-professionals in shops, light industrial sectors and on farms. Appliances that can still be used while mounted on a stand are included within the scope of this standard. NOTE 1 Appliances within the scope of this standard include: -- soldering irons; -- desoldering irons; -- welding torches; -- conduit welding tools; -- thermoplastic conduit welding tools; Tools; --branding tools; --branding pens; --wire strippers; --glue sprayers; --corner removal tools; --paint strippers; As a practical matter, this standard deals with public hazards arising from appliances that may be encountered by all persons in and around the home. In general, this standard does not consider - appliances used by unattended children or disabled persons; - appliances for children to play. NOTE 2 Attention is paid to the following facts: - tools intended to be used in vehicles, ships or aircraft may require additional requirements; - appliances intended to be used in tropical countries may require special requirements;
