This standard specifies minimum performance requirements and general rules for marking electrical equipment with ratings and other properties to enable the correct and safe selection and installation of electrical equipment to be connected to any power supply. The purpose of this standard is to: - provide general requirements for marking relevant characteristics of any power supply system, such as voltage, current, frequency and power: - provide technical committees with a uniform method for marking the electrical ratings of commodities. Relevant technical committees may stipulate some supplementary requirements on the power supply characteristics of electrical equipment connected to any power supply. When required, this basic safety standard can be applied in general, and the relevant technical committees can stipulate some supplementary requirements for the marking of power supply characteristics. NOTE 1 See ISO/IEC Guide 51 [1] for further marking. 2 See IEC20(826) for the definition of electrical equipment.
