Scope

This chapter of GB/T 14536.1 is revised as follows. This standard applies to the evaluation of thermal protectors for ballasts of tubular fluorescent lamps. Note: See GB 2313 for the test requirements when ballasts and thermal protectors are assembled together. This standard applies to the inherent safety of ballast protectors, to operating values, operating times and operating procedures related to equipment safety, and to tests of thermal protectors for preventing overheating of ballasts for tubular fluorescent lamps. This standard applies to ballast thermal protectors within the scope of GB 2313 "General Requirements and Safety Requirements for Ballasts for Tubular Fluorescent Lamps". NOTE 1 The thermal protectors covered by this standard may be adapted for use in ballasts for other discharge lamps. 2 The term "protector" as used in this standard refers to an automatically resettable thermal protector for ballasts. This standard does not apply to other devices protecting ballasts. This standard does not apply to manual devices for disconnecting circuits. This standard applies to protectors for ballasts used in power supplies with a frequency of 50Hz or 60Hz and an AC voltage of 600V or less. NOTE: Requirements for protectors for ballasts used at AC voltages up to and including 1000 V are under consideration. This standard does not specify the response value of the automatic operation of the protector related to the method of installation of the protector in the equipment. If the response value is meaningful for the protection of the user and the surrounding environment, then the response value specified in the corresponding equipment standard or determined by the manufacturer is applicable in this standard.
