Scope
This document specifies the requirements for the design, manufacture and testing of electro-sensitive protective equipment (ESPE) using vision-based protective devices (VBPD) as sensitive functions. General requirements for design, manufacture and testing of type ESPE. ESPE includes optional safety-related functions (given in Appendix A). It is limited to what the ESPE can do and how it interfaces with the machinery. This document applies to ESPEs for the following purposes: --- Detection does not require human intervention; --- Detection of objects entering or existing in the detection area. This document does not apply to: --- VBPDs using radiation wavelengths exceeding 400nm~1500nm. This document does not deal with: --- the size or configuration of the detection area and its configuration in relation to any specific application of hazardous parts; --- the dangerous state of any machinery; --- the requirements for complex classification or differentiation of detected objects ; ——Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) emission requirements. This document may be relevant for applications other than the protection of personnel, such as the protection of machinery or products from mechanical damage. In these applications, additional requirements may be required, for example when the material identified by the sensitive function has properties different from that of a human.
