- Scope
- This document specifies requirements for protective coverings and other protective measures. Guards and protective measures are used to reduce the mechanical hazards arising from unbalanced rotors at the measuring station of centrifugal (rotary) balancing machines. These hazards arise when balancing various types of rotors and operating balancing machines in different states of balance. This document defines different protection levels for protective covers and other protective measures, and limits the scope of application of each protection level. This document does not include means for adjusting the mass distribution of the rotor and means for conveying the rotor, although some of them are assembled on the measuring station. This document does not cover special properties of the shield, such as noise reduction, windage reduction or vacuuming (which may be required to balance a bladed rotor at equilibrium speed).
