Scope: This standard specifies the dimensions of indexable inserts made of ceramic cutting materials with rounded tip, no fixed hole, normal relief angles of 0° and 11°, precision grade G. These inserts are primarily clamped on turning and boring tool holders from the top. This standard applies to G-class non-hole indexable inserts made of various ceramic cutting materials. Ceramic cutting materials are composed of various oxides, nitrides, carbides and metals. For example, such ceramic materials are: oxide ceramics (mainly composed of alumina Al2O3), oxide-carbide ceramics (mainly composed of alumina and other materials such as TiC carbide), nitride ceramics (generally composed of silicon nitride Si3N4 and other materials such as yttrium oxide Y2O3 and aluminum oxide).
