GB/T 18380.34-2022 Tests on electric and optical fibre cables under fire conditions—Part 34:Test for vertical flame spread of vertically-mounted bunched wires or cables—Category B (English Version)
This document describes a Type B test method for evaluating the ability of vertically installed bundles of wires and cables or optical cables to inhibit the vertical spread of flame under specified conditions. This document applies to cable and fiber optic cable specimen sections installed on test ladders containing non-metallic materials with a total nominal volume of 3.5 L/m. The fire supply time is 40 min. Electrical and optical cables are installed in front of the steel ladder. Class B is used to evaluate the occasions with medium volume content of non-metallic materials. This test is used for type approval test. See Appendix A for the selection requirements of test cables and optical cables. Flame spread is determined by the damage extent of the cable and cable samples. This test procedure can be used to verify the ability of electrical and optical cables to suppress the spread of flame. Recommended performance requirements are given in Appendix B. Note: The term "wire and cable" in this document includes all metal conductor insulated cables used for power or signal transmission.
