Scope

This standard specifies the principle, equipment, sampling, sample preparation, calibration and verification, and measurement procedures of the method for determining grain size by electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). This standard applies to the measurement of the average grain size of fully recrystallized polycrystalline metallic materials. Other crystal materials that can produce high quality and high calibration rate electron backscattered diffraction patterns can be implemented with reference to this method.
