- This standard specifies the general safety requirements for the design, manufacture and use of small and medium-sized rotating electrical machines. This standard applies to small and medium-sized rotating electrical machines for general purposes that require safety certification. This standard can also be used for general safety requirements for other special-purpose motors. This standard does not apply to traction motors and control motors. Special safety requirements for various types of motors shall be specified separately.
