This standard specifies the safety requirements for small and medium-sized rotating electrical machines (motors and generators, hereinafter referred to as motors) for general purposes. This standard does not apply to aerospace motors, traction motors, explosion-proof motors, lifting metallurgical motors and shielded motors. For low-power motors produced according to GB/T 5171, GB 12350 can also be used as the assessment basis. If other types of motors have other special safety requirements not included in this standard, another standard should be formulated.
